Chalk Wall Fun!

I’ve been wanting to turn our rental house into a home, especially for the kids. We don’t really want to paint so we are living with the white walls. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t decorate!

My plan was to surprise the kids with a chalk wall when they woke up from their naps on Sunday. My plan was foiled when Amelia decided that she didn’t want to take a nap. So, we had a Mommy and Daughter project. Lucky for me, the chalk walls are fast and easy to apply!

I used a few pieces that I had leftover from a Tags & Tidbits chalk wall, but I’m also a big fan of the Flower Power chalk wall for those of you who welcome a more feminine touch.

Here's our blank canvas:  a boring, plain wall in our basement, next to Amelia's art desk.  The perfect spot for creativity!

The chalk walls are so easy to apply.  Just peel the backing paper off, apply to the wall and then burnish (rub) with the transfer tool.  I started with a scalloped circle, which literally took less than two minutes, if that.  Before I could even finish the application, Amelia wanted to draw!

Amelia helped me put up the second piece, another in the Tags & Tidbits line, and immediately started drawing on that one too.

She had a blast drawing with the chalk and assisting with the chalk wall application.  And, of course, being the little artist that she is, she signed her first chalk drawing with an "A".
